Women’s Lacrosse Overcomes Halftime Deficit Against Findlay

FINDLAY, Ohio – McKendree University women's lacrosse earned its fourth win of the season against Findlay University on Wednesday afternoon with a final score of 15-10. The Bearcats improved to 4-5 overall on the season with the victory. 

At the half, McKendree trailed the Oilers by two goals, 7-5. The Bearcats turned the tables on both ends of the field, holding Findlay to just three goals in the second half and scoring five goals in each of the last two quarters.  

As a team, the Bearcats scored 15 goals on 28 shots while totaling 24 total groundballs and eight caused turnovers. In free position shots, McKendree was 5-for-8, topping the Oilers who were 1-for-4 in the same category. 

McKendree was led in scoring by sophomore attacker Jayna Barnden who sank a career-high seven goals on nine shots. Junior attacker Jenna Sugarman also notched a career high, netting five goals in the win. Senior midfielder Olivia Julian added two more goals while senior defender Lauren Fischer recorded one goal on the day. Senior attacker Emma Rhines snagged the Bearcats' lone assist for the contest.  

Sugarman, senior defender Hannah Unkefer, and freshman defender Lexi Macleod each posted three ground balls to lead McKendree. Sugarman also topped the caused turnover column with two.  

Coming up, McKendree is back on Leemon Field this Friday, March 22 for a 1 p.m. game against Dominican University of California.
