LEBANON, Ill. - No.18-ranked McKendree University men's volleyball is set to play two Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association matches this week. The Bearcats start the week at Lindenwood on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. and play a home game against No.11 Loyola Chicago on Saturday at 5 p.m.
McKendree is 13-7 overall and 7-4 in the MIVA, placing them fourth by record. The Bearcats stay consistent as the nation's leader in digs (10.67 per set) and runner-up in assists per set (12.21 per set) while also ranking third in kills (12.96 per set). McKendree has three individuals who rank in the nation's top ten for statistical categories including redshirt senior setter Tyler Poulsen at No.4 in assists, junior middle hitter at No.4 in hitting percentage (.415), and junior outside hitter Kevin Schuele at No.7 in digs.
Lindenwood is 7-11 overall and 3-7 in the MIVA heading into Wednesday's game. The Lions are No.3 in the nation in assists at 12.15 per set and setter Connor Sheehan tops the assists list at 11.06 assists per set. When the Bearcats and Lions last met on Feb. 28, McKendree came away with a 3-0 victory.
Loyola Chicago comes to Lebanon just a week after the Bearcats played the Ramblers in Chicago. The Ramblers earned a 3-0 win against McKendree. Loyola Chicago sports a 14-8 record overall and an 8-3 MIVA record; while No.2 in the MIVA, the Ramblers most recently scored a No.11 ranking in the AVCA Coaches' Poll.
