LEBANON, Ill. - McKendree University men's volleyball defeated Maryville University on Saturday night for its fifth consecutive win. The Bearcats improved to 12-6 overall for the season after the non-conference match.
McKendree took a 2-0 lead with set scores of 25-14 and 25-21 before the Saints would win one set of their own 25-21. McKendree controlled the fourth set, sealing the win with a 25-13 set.
McKendree was led in kills by sophomore middle blocker Rolen Lively who recorded a career-high 13 kills on 19 attempts with no errors and a .684 hitting percentage. Lively also posted a career-high four aces. Redshirt sophomore Sam Hoskin tallied 12 kills while Nathan Flayter secured a double-double of 10 kills and 10 digs.
Defensively, McKendree was led by redshirt sophomore libero Yadiel Diaz and junior outside hitter Kevin Schuele with 12 digs apiece. Junior middle blocker D'Aaron McCraney delivered six blocks on the night.
As a team, McKendree hit .370 with redshirt senior Tyler Poulsen supplying 47 assists for the Bearcats.
