LEBANON, Ill – McKendree University hosted the 2024 Bearcastpy Awards, a night to honor athletic and academic success across the athletic department. This is the first time McKendree has hosted the award show since 2019 and was brought back thanks to efforts from coaches, the athletic department, and the student athlete advisory committee.
The award nomnation and voting process went as follows, in March a form was sent to each head coach allowing them to nominate their athletes, other coaches, and faculty members for each individual award that was presented.
Once all the nominations were received, a committee of administrators met to narrow the nominees lists down to 3 to 5 nominees. The athletics performances that were considered were from Spring of 2023, Fall of 2023, and Winter of 2023-2024 due to the 2024 spring season not being complete.
Once the nominations were finalized, a vote was held by the administrators to finalize the award winners.
