LEBANON, Ill – McKendree University women's lacrosse defeated GLVC foe Quincy Hawks with a score of 11-10 after a late game comeback.
Senior Olivia Julian got the day started with the first goal of the game giving the Bearcats a 1-0 lead. After two more goals from sophomore Jayna Barnden the Bearcats led the Hawks 3-1 after the first quarter.
The second quarter saw the Hawks score two quick goals to tie the game, and a third to take a 4-3 lead. Junior Jenna Sugarman tied the game at 4 just before the half.
The third quarter saw fifth year Senior Lexi Helms score and Julian add a pair of goals to bring the score to 7-6 Bearcats after three.
The fourth quarter saw the Bearcats fall into a 10-7 hole after allowing 4 straight Hawk goals. But the final 2:12 of the game saw some Bearcat magic which started with Barnden scoring a goal. Helms scored two goals at the 1:43 mark, and 0:33 mark to tie the game. Julian scored with 12 seconds remaining, completing the comeback and defeating the Hawks 11-10.
The Bearcats are back in action for their final home game of the season, and senior day against Western Missouri State University this Sunday, April. 7.
