MUNCIE, Ind. – McKendree University men's volleyball concluded its regular season on Saturday, April 6 at Worthen Arena on the campus of Ball State University. Ball State claimed the match against the Bearcats 3-2. McKendree ends the regular season 14-11 overall and 8-8 in the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association.
The Bearcats gained the early advantage by winning the first two sets 25-21 and 25-20. The Cardinals responded, winning the third and fourth sets 25-20 and 25-22 respectively. The last set was ultimately claimed by Ball State 15-8.

Bryce Wetjen led McKendree in kills with 15; junior outside hitter
Kevin Schuele added 13 kills. Juniors outside hitter
Tyler Tripp and middle blocker
D'Aaron McCraney each swung for nine kills. Freshman setter
Nathan Flayter dished 38 assists for the match.
Defensively, the Bearcats were led by redshirt sophomore libero
Yadiel Diaz who scooped 10 digs in the five sets. Tripp and Schuele tallied eight digs apiece. Four Bearcats recorded three or more blocks, including Wetjen and sophomore middle blocker
Rolen Lively with four in addition to three each from Schuele and McCraney.
With all MIVA regular-season games completed, McKendree takes the No.7 seed for the first round of the post-season tournament. The Bearcats will face No.2-seeded Loyola Chicago on Saturday, April 13 in Chicago, Ill. Last season, McKendree was the first seven-seeded team to win a tournament game in MIVA history. The time for the match is to be announced.
