Women's Water Polo Competes in WWPA Erie Classic

ERIE, Pa. - The McKendree University women's water polo team traveled to Pennsylvania this past weekend to compete in the WWPA Erie Classic going 1-2 on the weekend. 

On Saturday, the Bearcats first went up against Salem University falling to the Tigers 9-13. Senior Jazmine Guzman led the way offensively for the Bearcats with five goals and sophomore attacker Dylan Murphy added three assists. Defensively,  junior Goalie added 14 saves, and sophomore attacker Jazmin Sandoval added five steals. In game two of the day, McKendree took down Gannon University with a score of 12-6. The Bearcats were led in scoring by fifth-year defender Delaney Hall and Sandoval with three goals apiece. Defensively, Kane had six steals and 15 saves only allowing six goals. 

On the last day of the tournament, the Bearcats faced Mercyhurst University falling to the Lakers 9-6. Sophomore attacker Joey Rebelo led the way for the Bearcats with four goals and three steals. 

The Bearcats concluded their regular season going 13-9 overall. McKendree clinched the number one seed in the WWPA East Division going into the conference tournament which starts April 26 in La Mirada, Calif.
