Men's Rugby Shuts Out Michigan State 24-0

LEBANON, Ill. – The men's rugby team opens their season up with a shutout over Michigan State University with a score of 22-0.

"Michigan State is an exceptional program and have been a powerhouse in the Big 10 for quite some time. We came out a little shaky early but were able to find a little bit of momentum and capitalize off some strong attacking play. They are a very physical team with strong ball runners and for us not to let in any points is also a credit to how hard out players have worked during the pre-season. We definitely have plenty to work on but it's a fantastic result and a significant step in the right direction for our season," said head coach Cameron Wyper.

Of the 4 tries scored on the day, two of them belonged to the player of the match, Guillem Marine. Jacob Kinnaird and William Wickens each tacked one try and Rufus Doran had one conversion.

The Bearcats are back in action Saturday September 28th at home against University of Illinois. Game time is 1:00 p.m.
