KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - 18th-ranked McKendree University women's soccer (7-0-0, 3-0-0 GLVC) captured another true road win on Sunday with a 2-1 victory over Truman State during a rainy afternoon battle. The Bearcats put up a fifth-straight win over Truman State dating back to the spring 2021 season as senior forward
Anna Stiffler and senior forward
Lena Higgins both firing a goal for McKendree. McKendree returns to Leemon Field in Lebanon, Illinois for its first home conference games this fall, hosting Drury and Southwest Baptist on September 27 and 29.
McKendree continued its road-heavy beginning to the season with a sixth road battle in the first seven contests as it faced TSU. The Bearcats entered the day undefeated and looked to remain that way with a late second-half score. The senior forward
Anna Stiffler put her squad up quickly with a fourth minute score off a clean through ball by her teammates, firing the ball into the back of the net after passing by the Bulldogs' back line. The Bearcats held a 1-0 advantage into the halftime intermission.
The Bulldogs evened up the game just after halftime but the Bearcats kept pushing with a break coming in the 71st minute. The break came after a throw-in, which sailed into the box and was knocked around before senior forward
Lena Higgins got a foot on it and sent her shot into the back of the net. The visiting Bearcats held onto the one goal advantage through the final horn for the victory.
McKendre tallied five corners while firing eight of 15 total shots on-frame.
