Men's Volleyball to Host No. 2 Long Beach State

LEBANON, Ill. - The McKendree University men's volleyball team is set to host No.2 Long Beach State University this Thursday, Jan. 16 at 7 p.m.

The Bearcats recorded their first win of the 2025 season at home this past Saturday against Rockhurst University, sporting an overall record of 1-3. The Sharks post a 1-0 record on the season and will face Lindenwood on Wednesday before taking on McKendree. The last matchup between the Bearcats and the Sharks happened in 2020, with the match going into four sets.

Offensively, McKendree is led by senior outside hitter Kevin Schuele with 3.53 kills per set, ranking seventh in kills in the Midwest Intercollegiate Volleyball Association. Sophomore setter Nate Flayter ranks fifth in the league in assists with 9.93 per set. Junior libero Yadiel Diaz leads the team in digs with 2.20 per set, ranking sixth in the MIVA. Senior middle blocker D'Aaron McCraney ranks fifth in the league with 19.0 blocks on the season.

Thursday's match is a purple out. It will be streamed on the GLVC Sports Network, and live statistics will be available.
