COLUMBIA, Mo. - No. 6 Mckendree University men's swim and dive competed against the University of Missouri tigers and Missouri State bears over a two-day meet.
FRIDAY RESULTS
The 200-yard free relay saw freshman Vova Gavrysh, junior Patryk Rozenek, senior Arthur Souza and junior Tyson Upton take second place with a time of 1:20.17. The "B" team consisting of senior Patrick Cramer, freshman Nojus Bertullis, freshman Polat Tasbasi, and senior Leo Gandaria-Hernandez took fourth place with a time of 1:21.66.
Senior Archie Minto took first place in the 150-yard fly, followed by Gavrysh
in second with times of 1:17.32 and 1:17.41 respectively.
Junior Caden Brooks took third in the 300-yard IM with a time of 2:53.75.
In the 50-yard backstroke finals, Rozenek placed second with a time of 22.43.
The 150-yard backstroke saw senior Abram Hagedorn place second with a time of 1:19.12.
Sophomore Christan Davidson placed second in the 800 yard freestyle with a time of 7:19.57.
Dante Nicola Rho placed second in the 150-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:26.73.
Junior Joey Ovanic placed third and Lustig placed fifth in the 100-yard IM with times of 50.47 and 50.85.
Gavrysh placed second in the 50-yard freestyle final with a time of 20.51.
The duo Hernandez and Souza went one and two in the 150-yard freestyle with times of 1:10.52 and 1:10.59.
Brooks, Bertulis, Lustig, and Gavrysh took second place in the 400 yard medley relay.
SATURDAY
Saturday opened with the 200-yard medley relay of Rozenek, Bertulis, Lustig, and Gavrysh taking second with a time of 1:27.02.
Christan Davidson took first place in the 1650-yard freestyle relay with a time of 15:23.50. Junior Michael Stooke took fourth with a time of 16:26.92.
Gavrysh placed first in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:36.22. Hernandez placed fourth with a time of 1:38.09.
In the 100-yard backstroke Roozenek and Brooks placed second and third with times of 48.90 and 49.24.
Bertulis and Rho took second and fifth with times of 54.03 and 54.85 respectively in the 100-yard breaststroke.
Lustig won the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:44.37 with Minto in third with a time of 1:48.50.
The 100-yard freestyle saw Gavrysh and Upton take second and third placed in the 100-yard with times of 43.96 and 45.03.
Rozenek placed third in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:46.71.
The 500-yard free saw Davidson place first in 4:26.70, and Hernandez in 4:33.63 placing fourth. Souza also placed sixth in 4:37.34.
Lustig and Minto placed second and fifth in the 100-yard fly with times of 47.61 and 48.11.
Bertulis, Brooks, and Lustig placed second, fourth, and fifth with times of 1:49.30, 1:51.52, and 1:52.01 in the 200-yard IM.
Closing out the meet the Bearcats placed second in the 400-yard free relay with a time of 2:55.88. The realy consisted of Gavrysh, Souza, Hernandez, and Upton.
The Bearcats defeated the Bears 191-102 and fell to the Tigers 189-110.
"This was a good meet for Bearcats. Over the two days the men had seven wins over an SEC team Mizzou with some impressive performances." Head Coach Jimmy Tierney said.
The Bearcats are back in the pool next Sat. Jan. 25 for Senior Day against GLVC foes Lewis University and University of Missouri Saint Louis.
