RUSSEVILLE, Ark. -- This year's Dardanelle Open is in the books. The tournament's record-breaking roster saw 284 boats from 56 different Universities hit the lake for the two-day tourney.
After day one McKendree had three teams in the top 25.
Jack Stephens and
Maxwell Trotter were sitting in 5th with 18.58,
Evan Sutton and
Jaxson Freeman were in 8th with 16.76, and
Chase Logue and
Mason Darling were in 23rd with 15.29.
But, as it happens so often on Dardanelle, day two was a different story. The ACA always shortens day two by two hours to allow the anglers time to drive back home and be ready for Monday classes, so anglers often struggle to put together as good of a bag on day two.
Jack and Maxwell were one fish short of their limit on day two giving them a two-day total of 30.38 good for 5th place. Their 5th place finish qualified them for the Collegiate Bass National Championship.
Connor Hall and
Kai Barnett were McKendree's second best finishers. They were also the only Bearcat team to put together a limit on both days. Their double limit totaled 21.54 and placed them in 47th.
Chase and Mason weighed three fish on day two and ended up in 51st with 20.93. Evan and Jackson were not able to upgrade on day two and ended up in 99th with 16.76. Henry Fledderman and
Angelo Malek's two-day total of 14.83 was good for 116th.
Zach Pocos and
Carson Belville were 195th with 7.81.
The next tournament for the Bearcats will be the Illinois State Championship this Sunday on Lake Kinkaid.
