SPRINGFIELD, Ill. | Kiwanis Stadium - McKendree University men's soccer (5-4-4, 5-2-3 GLVC) jumped back into the win column on Sunday afternoon with a 1-0 victory over the Prairie Stars to recover from a dropped contest a week prior. The Bearcats currently sit in the middle of the top-eight in the Great Lakes Valley Conference with 18 points and four games remaining on the regular season campaign. McKendree gets back to Leemon Field for Homecoming Weekend with two games, UIndy on October 24 at 7:30PM and Lewis on October 26 at 2:30PM.
McKendree went on the road for a single game over the weekend with the goal of getting back in the win column after a tight battle against Maryville the last weekend. The Bearcats pushed early on with a seven-shot first half ad three on-frame. The break through arrived in the 23rd minute of action as the Bearcats as sophomore forward
Adam Reiniger gathered a dish out and put his ball into the six yard box before making his move and finding the back of the net. McKendree held its 1-0 lead going into the half.
McKendree pushed still in the second half with six more shots with five on-frame, dominating the ball throughout the latter 45 minutes of action. Seven Bearcats fired shots on-goal throughout the day with sophomore defender
Philipp Muehlhans leading at two on-frame while six others had one.
WIth the result, sophomore goalkeeper
Toby Lewis tallied his fifth shutout of the year with three saves in the effort.
