No.2 Women's Wrestling Voted to Capture Crown in Inaugural GLVC Women's Wrestling Season

Bearcats return national champ, three national finalists in first NCAA Championship season

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. | Great Lakes Valley Conference - McKendree University women's wrestling, the preseason national No.2 squad, was tabbed to capture the inaugural GLVC Women's Wrestling championship with 35 total points and five first-place votes, as voted on by the conference coaches and released by the league on Thursday morning. The Bearcats are one of seven squads part of the GLVC Women's Wreslting Conference, leading the charge with three NCWWC National Titles, a Third Place finish at Nationals in 2025, and over 20 Individual National Champions in the program's history. In the NWCA Preseason National Poll, the Bearcats boast seven ranked wrestlers with three top-ranked individuals in 117 Yu Sakamoto, 124 Shelby Moore, and reigning 207lb National Champion Tristan Kelly. McKendree kicks off its season at the Adrian Duals and the Adrian Open on November 8 and 9 in Adrian, Michigan.
