LEBANON, Ill. | Leemon Field - No.24 McKendree University women's soccer (9-1-4, 9-1-1 GLVC) captured a third-straight win with a commanding 5-1 victory in the first of two games on Homecoming weekend on campus as the Bearcats bombarded the Greyhounds. The Bearcats used a four-goal first half to help propel them to victory with two goals coming from junior defender
Zoe Cormier, including the game winner,  while junior midfielder
Maggie Gleckler dished out assists on the first three goals of the contest. McKendree collected its ninth win of the conference slate while they head into their final home game of the regular season with a match up against Lewis on Sunday, October 26 at 12:00PM.
The first half saw the Bearcats take a quick and decisive lead with a fifth-minute goal from sophomore forward
Maddie Mauch, her eighth of the campaign, after a low through ball from junior midfielder
Maggie Gleckler. McKendree held its 1-0 lead until it found a break in the 12th minute after earning a corner kick, which Gleckler launched into the box and Cormier fired into the net. The scoring ceased momentarily with McKendree keeping its 2-0 lead, which was then extended in the 32nd minute of action as Gleckler lined up for another corner kick. The cross was located and blasted into the net again by Cormier, her second of the day and second career multi-goal game. The Bearcats added a fourth score in the first half in the closing minute as sophomore forward
Ella Rogan added her third of the campaign with a high-arcing pass from junior forward
Ella Post, making it a 4-0 contest for the home squad.
In the second half, McKendree managed to add a fifth and final goal from their attack as a flurry of action led to Mauch pushing through a low cross, finding the feet of junior forward
Aubrey Andrews. Andrews turned and quickly fired away for the score, her fifth of the year.
UIndy added their score late on a broken play, making the game a 5-1 contest, with the Bearcats reigning supreme at the final horn. Junior goalkeeper
Peyton Baker collected three saves in the game and victory for the Bearcats.
McKendree held supremacy in multiple categories with 22 shots and 12 corners versus UIndy's five and one.
