LEBANON, Ill. – McKendree drops in 3 sets in a conference match up with the Hawks of Quincy University with the scores of 22-25, 12-25, 13-25. Tonight's match against the Hawks marked senior libero Ashlyn Berczynski's 1,000th career dig in the McKendree uniform.
In the Bearcats conference contest with the Hawks, McKendree struggled to find a stop to Quincy's offense. Quincy recorded 45 kills in the match while McKendree finished with only 25. The outside duo, senior Destiny Gray and graduate student Emily-Kate Lonergan, led the offense with 6 kills each in an effort to spark life into the Bearcats. Sophomore middle blocker Avery Guisinger followed suit with 4 kills. Freshman setter Peyton Uptgraft tallied 21 assists on the contest.
On the opposite side of the ball, Berczysnki had a memorable night. Ending the match with 17 digs, Berczynski successfully reached the milestone of 1,000 career digs. This performance led the Bearcats defensively followed by Gray who notched 12 digs. McKendree had trouble shutting down the Quincy offense at the net, only noting 5 total blocks throughout the match.
The Bearcats will be back in the Melvin Price Convocation Center tomorrow afternoon, Oct. 4th at 3:00 pm, for youth night. McKendree will face off against the University of Illinois Springfield in another GLVC match.
