Romeoville, Ill. – Women's volleyball came up short in a four-set battle against the Flyers of Lewis this evening. Despite taking the first set 25-20, Lewis responding winning the next three sets 15-25, 14-25, 17-25.

The Bearcats move to 5-18 overall, 3-6 in conference play.

McKendree struggled to find offensive consistency. After recording a .265 hitting percentage at the conclusion of set one, the Bearcats efficiency took a hit. As a team in the 2nd-4th set combined, McKendree notched a hitting percentage of .051. The lowest offensive performance came in the third set where the Bearcats tallied in the negatives. McKendree finished the match with a .098 hitting percentage while the Flyer ended with a .250.

The defensive game was won by Lewis. As a team, they collected 85 digs on the match. At the net they were dominate, notching 15 blocks compared to McKendree's three.

Senior outside hitter Destiny Gray recorded her 8th double-double of the season with 12 kills and 13 digs. Gray's offensive performance in tonight's match led the Bearcats with sophomore middle blocker Avery Guisinger following with seven kills. Freshman setter Peyton Uptgraft contributed 31 assists with 10 digs, marking her 9th double-double on the season. Senior libero Ashlyn Berczynski guided the defensive efforts with 31 digs with Gray and Uptgraft adding 13 and 10, respectively.

Next up, the Bearcats are in Indianapolis, Ind. tomorrow to face the University of Indianapolis at 3:00 pm.
