LEBANON, Ill. | Leemon Field - McKendree University women's soccer collected a fourth-straight shut out victory on Friday evening with a 1-0 win over Missouri S&T, improving to 5-0-4 and 5-0-1 in Great Lakes Valley Conference play. The Bearcats got a massive boost with the game-winning score from sophomore forward
Maddie Mauch and the in-goal performance from junior goalkeeper
Peyton Baker, propelling the Bearcats to the top of the GLVC standings mid-way through the fall campaign. McKendree remains at home for its next bout with Lincoln (MO) coming to Leemon Field on Sunday, October 5 at 12:00PM.
The Bearcats looked to build on a strong stretch of performances, which featured three-straight shut outs and four-straight wins, and found the game-winning score in just the 15th minute of action on Friday. McKendree captured the contest lead with the second game-winner by
Maddie Mauch on the year with the dish-out coming from sophomore forward
Ella Rogan. McKendree held a 1-0 advantage at the halftime intermission with a 5-0 shot advantage and a 4-1 corner kick lead.
The second half saw the Bearcats lean heavily on their defense, which featured
Peyton Baker, who stood out once again as she collected two penalty kick saves in the contest, holding an aggressive attack from the Miners. Baker collected five saves in the contest, all coming in the latter 45 minutes of play. The Bearcats and Baker pushed off Missouri S&T's forward advances to keep the 1-0 lead and take the victory, avenging a dropped game to the Miners in 2024.
