Women's Soccer Triumphs in Penultimate Contest at Upper Iowa

Bearcats show out over Peacocks in Iowa

FAYETTE, Iowa - 24th-ranked McKendree University women's soccer posted a 4-0 shutout to grab another three points in the league standings, as the Bearcats defeated Upper Iowa on Friday evening. The Bearcats were powered to victory by three first-half goals including another game-winner from sophomore forward Maddie Mauch in the 11th minute. McKendree concludes the regular season on Sunday, November 2 at Quincy as the Bearcats look to secure another regular season title with a result.

The Bearcats continue to pursue their postseason position and fed into that with a commanding performance on a chilly Friday afternoon bout, kicking things off early and often. The first score came in the 11th minute of the contest as Mauch gathered a dish out from sophomore midfielders Rylie Lucas and Perry Rogan. Once the lead was grabbed for McKendree, the visiting Bearcats did not look back or let up. Just a few short minutes later, junior forward Aubrey Andrews found the back of the net on an unassisted goal to make it 2-0 against the Peacocks. The No.24 Bearcats held control over the contest throughout the rest of the half, firing 11 shots over the first 45 minutes with six of those going on-frame. In the 43rd minute, McKendree found another score, this time from junior forward Ella Post off the assist by junior midfielder Maggie Gleckler. The Bearcats led 3-0 at the intermission period.

In the second half, the Bearcats continued to push as they put up 14 shots and another six on-frame. The shot bombardment broke through again in the 57th minute of action as Andrews put up her second score of the game to make the lead 4-0 in favor of her squad.

McKendree held up its end through the end of the contest with junior goalkeeper Peyton Baker grabbing four saves in the shutout win, her eighth clean sheet of the campaign.
