LEBANON, Ill. – McKendree's women's volleyball team traveled to St. Louis, Mo. to take on the Tritons of the University of Missouri-St. Louis. The Bearcats dropped three straight sets to the Tritons, allowing Missouri-St. Louis to complete the sweep on their home court. The final scores were 16-25, 12-25, 9-25.
The Bearcats move to 5-20 overall, 3-8 in conference play.
McKendree opened set one with a four-point run that was followed by a three-point run by the Tritons. After trading points back and forth, Missouri-St. Louis took their first lead of the match at 7-8. The Tritons had three three-point runs throughout the middle of set one that pulled them ahead of the Bearcats. A four-point run by the Tritons handed them set one.
At the start of set two, the Bearcats started up on Missouri-St. Louis 4-1. After a service error by McKendree, the Tritons responded with a five-point run to take the lead. Missouri-St. Louis and McKendree traded points back and forth until the Tritons gained all the momentum with a run of six points, kick started by two McKendree errors. The Tritons ended the set with a three-point run, taking the two set to none advantage over the Bearcats.
Set three was all Tritons. After opening the set with the score of 2-3, Missouri-St. Louis went on a run of five-points taking a demanding lead, 2-8. McKendree did not have a run in the third set. The Bearcats would end a Tritons run, only for Missouri-St. Louis to go on another. There was no answer for the Tritons offense, which hit at a .398% on the match with 43 kills.

Peyton Uptgraft dished out 18 assists, conducting the offense. On the defensive end, senior libero
Ashlyn Berczynski picked up eight digs followed by Gray and Uptgraft each with five.
Up next, McKendree is back at home for the final weekend of regular season GLVC play. The Bearcats will take on Rockhurst on 11/14 at 6:00 pm followed by William Jewell on 11/15 at 3:00 pm for senior day.
