LEBANON, Ill. - The No. 18 McKendree University men's volleyball team is set to play two Midwest Intercollegiate Volleyball Association conference games this week. The Bearcats will first play Lindenwood University on the road on Wednesday, Feb. 12 at 7 p.m., and then host No. 6 Loyola University Chicago on Saturday, Feb. 15 at 7 p.m.
The Bearcats sport an overall record of 4-5 and are 1-1 in MIVA action after taking down No. 12 Lewis University on Saturday in four sets. McKendree currently ranks first in digs for MIVA play with 10.19 per set. The Bearcats rank fourth in assists and kills, with 11.97 assists per set and 12.61 kills per set.Â
The Lions are currently 3-4 overall and 0-1 in the MIVA. Lindenwood faced off against Lewis last Wednesday, falling in four sets. Offensively, opposite-side hitter Ian Schuller leads the Lions with 3.68 kills per set. Setter Zach Solomon leads the team in digs on the defensive end with 1.92 per set.
The Bearcats will face the Ramblers for a second time this season after falling to them last week in three sets with scores of 25-21, 27-25, and 26-24. The Ramblers are currently undefeated, with a 10-0 overall record and a 2-0 MIVAÂ record. Before heading to McKendree, Loyola will face off against MIVA foe Quincy University. The Ramblers are led by outside hitter Parker Van Buren with 4.13 kills per set and libero JJ Sowa with 1.74 digs per set.Â
