Men's Volleyball to Kick Off Conference Play at Loyola Chicago, Lewis

LEBANON, Ill. - McKendree University men's volleyball is set to kick off the Midwest Intercollegiate Volleyball Association conference action on Thursday evening as the Bearcats will face off against No. 7 Loyola University Chicago at 7 p.m. McKendree will also face off against No. 12 Lewis University on Saturday, Feb. 8 at 7 p.m.

The Bearcats hold an overall record of 3-4 after securing two wins at home, sweeping the University of Charleston and Maryville University. In MIVA statistics, McKendree ranks third overall in digs and assists, with 9.42 digs per set and 11.54 assists per set. The Bearcats also rank fifth overall in blocks with 2.10 per set.

In MIVA individual standings, senior middle blocker D'Aaron McCraney ranks first in hitting percentage, hitting .519. Junior libero Yadiel Diaz is third in digs, averaging 2.21 per set. Sophomore setter Nate Flayter is fifth in assists, averaging 9.79 per set.

Loyola Chicago sports an overall record of 8-0 and is currently ranked No. 7 per the latest AVCA National Poll. Outside hitter Parker Van Burren currently leads the Wolves with 3.68 kills per set and libero JJ Sowa with 1.58 digs per set.

Lewis holds an overall record of 7-2 and is ranked No. 12 in the nation. Outside hitter Max Roquet leads the Flyers with 3.75 kills per set and libero Nico Paula with 2.55 digs per set. The last matchup between the Bearcats and Flyers took place in March 2024 with McKendree coming out on top in five sets.

The Loyola Chicago game will be streamed on ESPN+ and the Marquee Sports Network, while the Lewis match will be available on YouTube. Live statistics will be available for both matches.
