Stephens, Freeman Led the Way at Major League Fishing; Qualifying Four Teams for MLF National Championship

GRAND LAKE, Ok. - McKendree Bass Fishing competed in the Major League Fishing on Friday, March 7, which consisted of 149 boats and 32 schools.

Only 79 boats out of the 149 caught any bass, and of the 79 boats, 29 only caught one bass, and 14 caught two. The Bearcat Anglers overcame these tough conditions and placed second overall.

Our team of senior duo Jack Stephens and Jaxson Freeman weighed in a five-bass limit for 14-3, and they took fourth place, sealing their bid to the championship. Sophomores Ryan Foster and Angelo Malek were able to catch four dandies for 12-15 and place 10th, also qualifying for the championship. Senior Lane Stephens, fishing solo, caught four bass for 12-5, placing 11th and earning his bid to the championship. The freshman duo of Liam Bonnett and Matthew Qualich also put together a solid pattern, weighing in a five bass limit for 9-15 to place 21st and qualify for the Natty. Another freshman team of Chase Logue and Mason Darling weighed in four bass for 8-5 and 27th place. Juniors Zach Pocos and Connor Hall had four bass for 6-4 and 35th place.
