This is the first-ever time that the McKendree women's water polo program has made the NC Water Polo Championships tournament in its nine-year history (eight years at the varsity level). The team currently has its best record yet of 21 wins and only seven losses and earned its first-ever major awards within the Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) with senior goalkeeper Sydney Kane (Kankakee, Ill.) receiving Player of the Year, while sophomore center Bella Morquecho snagged Newcomer of the Year last week.
It will be a big moment for newly acquainted Head Coach Alex Figueras who has led his team to their best season ever, with still a chance for a bigger trophy to add to the collection.
