INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Great Lakes Valley Conference announced their postseason awards on Tuesday, May 6th at the tournament banquet. Two Bearcats were honored for their performances on the field during the regular season.
Redshirt – Junior Sage McMinn was named to the All-GLVC Second Team in his first year as the McKendree first baseman. The Montana native was second on the team in batting average at .340. He belted 11 home runs and had 40 RBIs. With the impressive batting average, he posted an on-base of .475 and slugged .624. The left-handed hitter drew 30 walks which is good for a new McKendree Division II era single season record.
Sophomore shortstop, Peyton Bittle joins his teammate on gathering second team honors. The speedy middle infielder led the team in batting average at .341. He was top 10 in the GLVC in doubles with 16 and stolen bases at 22 of 26. The 22 stolen bags in a new McKendree Division II era single season record. The Carterville native also added a triple and eight home runs, while slugging .580 with an on-base of .416.
