LEBANON, Ill. | Leemon Field - McKendree University men's soccer (0-3-1, 0-1-0 GLVC) started out its Great Lakes Valley Conference slate with a stumble against Rockhurst on Sunday afternoon, falling 1-0 against the Hawks. The Bearcats fired 19 shots with eight on-frame attempts but could not convert a slew of late opportunities to tie the contest. McKendree remains at home for its next pair of contests with Truman State and William Jewell coming to Leemon Field on September 19 and 21.

The first half saw both teams struggle to move up field with neight able to take a lead until part-way through the period. Rockhurst gained its 1-0 lead in the 23rd behind a penalty kick opportunity, which it punched through. The Bearcats did not let up for the remainder of the half or contest, firing six shots in the first 45 minutes. The second half saw a flurry of close attempts with 13 shots from from the Bearcat attack as sophomore defender Philipp Muehlhans and sophomore forward Adam Reiniger led the way with four shots each while senior defender Pablo Pola tallied three total shots, all of which went on-frame. 

McKendree's major shot advantage, 19(8) - 9(2), and overal corner advantage, 6-5, was not enough to push through a tying or winning score for the Bearcats, as the home squad fell, 1-0.
