LEBANON, Ill. | Leemon Field - Fourth-ranked McKendree University men's soccer (0-0-1) began its 2025 campaign at Leemon Field on Thursday night with a 1-1 draw against No.20 Rogers State, moving the all-time series between the squads to 1-0-1 in favor of the Bearcats. McKendree's game-tying goal was fired by a newcomer for the Bearcats in freshman defender
Florian Ohk, marking his first collegiate score on a dish out from junior defender
Bailey Winchurch. The Bearcats are back on the pitch following another historic campaign with saw them head to the national semifinal round in 2024 and the round of 16 in 2023, which saw them drop just three contests over two seasons. McKendree is back in action at home against Cedarville on September 6 at 5:00PM, with the Bearcats leading the all-time series 1-0-1 over the Yellow Jackets.
With a vast number of newcomers under ninth-season head coach
Scott Gyllenborg, the Bearcats struggled early and gave up a 28th minute goal to hold a 1-0 deficit at the halfway mark. The Bearcats, still full of experience from a multitude of returners, continued to battle on all ends of the pitch while doubling the RSU shot total in the second half. In the 54th minute of action, it finally broke open for the home squad as the freshman defender Ohk found the back of the net to tie the game at 1-1. McKendree and the Bearcats battled the Hillcats for late-game supremacy with neither squad able to connect on an attempt to finish out the contest.
