LEBANON, Ill. | Leemon Field - Fourth-ranked McKendree University men's soccer (0-1-1) battled through a tough matchuop at home on Saturday evening against Cedarville, dropping the contest 1-0 after the Yellow Jackets snuck in an early second half goal. The Bearcats pushed onwards following the score with ample forward opportunities but were unable to connect to knot the non-conference bout. McKendree finishes out its non-conference schedule on the road on September 10 at Noon against a recently familiar foe in Southern Nazarene in Claremore, Oklahoma.
The first half saw no scoring between the squads with each team firing five shots with No.4 McKendree pressuring behind three on-frame attempts. Sophomore forward
Adam Reiniger, sophomore defender
Pablo Pola, and freshman forward
Fredrik Thulin each went for a shot on-goal in the first half to pace the fourth-ranked Bearcats with the team earning a pair of corner kicks.
In the second half, each team fought for an advantage with Cedarville taking a 1-0 lead in the 52nd minute. Sophomore goalkeeper
Casper Madsen collected four saves in the effort while playing full-time in net during the contest.
