FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Midwest Intercollegiate Men's Volleyball Association (MIVA) announced redshirt senior
Sam Hoskin as co-offensive player of the week, and graduate
Tyler Tripp as defensive player of the week on Tuesday morning.
This is Hoskin's second career offensive player of the week honor and Tripp's second career defensive player of the week honor, in back-to-back weeks.
Hoskin, the Woodridge, Ill. native, earns a share of MIVA offensive player of the week after recording 28 kills on 55 attempts, only committing two errors, with a hitting efficiency of .473 percent on a weekend series sweep of #10 Penn State. This performance was highlighted by a 12-kill, zero-error, three-set sweep. Hoskin also added 16 digs and three blocks on the defensive end.
Tripp, the Hanover Park, Ill. native, receives defensive player of the week, in back-to-back weeks, after picking up 18 digs and four blocks. Tripp achieved this with zero reception errors during the weekend series sweep over #10 Penn State. This performance was highlighted by an 11-dig performance in a four-set victory. Offensively, Tripp added 22 kills.
The Bearcats are back at home this weekend, 1/30-31, to take on Missouri S&T and Rockhurst. Friday's match against Missouri S&T is set for 7 PM, and Saturdays match is against Rockhurst at 7:30 PM.
