LEBANON, Ill. -- The McKendree women's volleyball team will face No. T-23 University of Indianapolis (UIndy) Friday, Oct. 23rd at 6:00 p.m., and Lewis University Saturday, Oct. 24th at 3:00 p.m. with a Senior Day Ceremony starting 10 minutes prior in the Melvin Price Convention Center.
McKendree is coming off a hot weekend, earning two wins against Malone University and Roosevelt University at the Midwest Region Volleyball Crossover, where the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) participating teams had a dominating 32-10 record. Setter Peyton Uptgraft recently surpassed her 1000 assists milestone as a sophomore during the team's match against Purdue University Northwest, carrying the playmaker title with pride. Freshman outside hitter Reece Distler is still leading the Bearcats in kills, earning 59 kills in conference play and totaling 175 on the season. The last three matches for Distler have created a new momentum for the Bearcats, earning three back-to-back double-doubles, and has kept her attacking percentage above .260 off 99 attempts. Defensively, libero Bianca Galaviz is just under Distler's total digs, racking 62 total digs in conference play.
The first match for the Bearcats will be against ranked opponent UIndy (19-3, 6-1 GLVC), who went 2-1 at the Midwest Crossover, earning a loss against Findlay. Senior libero Macy Bruton is currently ranked 14th in the nation for digs/sets, and second in the GLVC. Offensively, outside hitter Maddie Lynch averages 4.05 kills/set, leading the conference and earns a leaderboard spot in five different categories in the GLVC.
Saturday's Senior Day game will feature a matchup against Lewis University (12-10, 5-2 GLVC). The Flyers are faced with a 1-2 record from the Midwest Crossover, and a conference loss to UIndy from the previous GLVC match. Outside hitter Marin Grossman has earned 77 kills for Lewis during GLVC play and is second in kills in the season (198) under hitter Sarah Newberry, who has 240 total. Libero Elena Gubera leads the team in digs with 331 total, separating her from the second-place total by 100 digs.
Admission for the games this weekend in the MPCC will be $10 for general admission, $5 for 65 and older, and $25 for a weekend pass. Children 12 and under, as well as students have free admission. All games will be streamed on the GLVC Sports Network.
