Indianapolis, IN - McKendree University Women's Basketball heads into the weekend with momentum, as the Bearcats (12-8, 9-5 GLVC) prepare for a pivotal pair of Great Lakes Valley Conference road games at UIndy (5-18, 4-11 GLVC) and Lewis (14-8, 10-4). With the conference standings starting to take shape, and the Bearcats entering the weekend two spots above the cut line, every game could carry postseason implications. McKendree will be tested against two contrasting styles: a UIndy team that aims to speed up the game and create offense through its guards, followed by a Lewis squad built on experience and physicality.

BAYLIE PARKS NAMED GLVC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
It was announced on Monday afternoon that
Baylie Parks won her second GLVC Player of the Week honor of the 2025-26 season.
Parks is coming off a stellar performance on Saturday, February 7th, an 83-70 home win over the UIS Prairie Stars.
The junior forward poured in a career high 35 points in the win, adding 14 rebounds for her 19th career double-double.
Parks also had 3 assists and 2 steals, all the while shooting 14-of-17 from the field and 7-of-7 at the free throw line. She only left the floor for 4:16 out of the 40:00 of game time.
While it's Parks' second honor of the season, it's the fifth of her McKendree career.
ABOUT THE BEARCATS' LAST WEEK
W vs. UIS, 83-70 | February 7th, 2026
The Bearcats closed their three-game homestand with an 83-70 win over UIS on Hall of Fame and Alumni Day. McKendree led wire-to-wire, opening the game on a dominant first quarter run and never letting the Prairie Stars gain control.
Baylie Parks delivered a career-high 35 points with 14 rebounds, powering McKendree inside as the Bearcats won the paint, forced 20 turnovers, and shot 18-of-20 at the line.
Emma Slings added 14 points and 11 assists for her first career double-double.
SCOUTING THE UINDY GREYHOUNDS
UIndy enters the matchup looking to find consistency in conference play, but the Greyhounds remain a dangerous opponent when they're allowed to control the tempo and play downhill. UIndy averages 58.8 points per game while shooting 40.1% from the field, relying heavily on guard play rather than volume scoring. Defensively, opponents have averaged 66.2 points per game, making discipline and shot selection key factors for McKendree.
The Greyhounds are led offensively by Patricia Chikamba, who averages 14.0 points and 5.0 rebounds per game, shooting an efficient 44.4% from the floor. Chikamba is a physical scorer who thrives attacking the paint and drawing fouls (drew 10 in the first meeting with McKendree). Autumn Rucker provides a secondary scoring option at 11.0 points per game, while also serving as UIndy's most aggressive slashing guard.
On the perimeter, Amyrah Sapenter and Graycie Poe combine to average nearly 17 points per game, with Sapenter knocking down 33.6% from three-point range. UIndy averages 4.6 made threes per game, meaning perimeter defense and closeouts will be a point of emphasis.
Turnovers have been an issue for the Greyhounds, who average 18.3 turnovers per game and rank on the negative side of the turnover margin in conference play. McKendree's ability to apply ball pressure, force mistakes, and convert off those mistakes could be a major swing factor in this one.
SCOUTING THE LEWIS FLYERS
Lewis presents a more experienced and physical challenge, entering the week with one of the GLVC's most efficient offensive attacks. The Flyers average 63.0 points per game while holding opponents to 59.8, built around strong interior play. Lewis shoots 39.3% from the field and 83.3% from the free throw line, making them particularly dangerous late in games.
Senior forward Ally Cesarini leads the Flyers at 13.1 points per game. Cesarini plays heavy minutes, while Yaharia Bueno adds perimeter shooting and ball-handling, averaging 12.0 points per game and shooting over 33% from three.
Lewis controls the glass effectively, averaging 30 rebounds per game, and excels in second chance opportunities, as evidenced by 14 second chance points in their loss at UMSL on February 7th. Defensively, the Flyers limit transition chances and force opponents into extended possessions, ranking among the GLVC leaders in points allowed.
For McKendree, success against Lewis will hinge on rebounding, limiting fouls, and keeping their desired pace offensively. The Flyers are most effective when doing the same when it comes to pace. Pushing the ball, attacking early, and forcing Lewis to defend a spread floor will be critical for the Bearcats as they look to secure a conference road win that could have fairly large seeding implications come time for the GLVC tournament in early March.
