INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – McKendree Men's bowling finished third out of a massive field in the Columbia 300 Hoosier Classic at Western Bowl.
On the first day of competition, the team rolled five traditional games. Leading the team individually was Bradon West finishing in 11th out of 536 scoring competitors. He averaged 230 out of all five games ending the day with a great 257 game to jump up in the standings. Dale Horstmann was closely behind him in the standings, sitting at 30th and averaging 217 throughout the traditional games.
11 spots behind him was Nathan Bassford with an average of 213.8 sitting at 41st in the standings. At 63rd was Xavier Newell who had a nice 210 average in the five traditional games. With three accredited games, Darren Zombro averaged 192. Finishing out the scoring for the Bearcats was Zach Vanderpool who came in the last two games and fired off games of 232 and 246.
This team effort in the traditional games put them in fourth heading into three, five game baker sets.
After the 15 baker games, the team ended with an average of 193.7 with a total pinfall of 2,905 to move one spot to third at the end of qualifying. This put them with a matchup against Newman in bracket play.
Unfortunately, they would lose to Newman in two games.
The team would end with a total pinfall of 8,312 to put them in third place at the end of the competition.
Next Up
The Bearcats are preparing for the United States Bowling Congress (USBC) Sectional tournament in which they were selected to go to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania from March 13th through the 15th.
