GREEN BAY, Wisc. – McKendree Men's bowling had its season come to an end at the USBC Intercollegiate Team Championships at the Ashwaubenon Bowling Alley this past weekend.
Competition started on Thursday with 24 baker games to decide the seeding for bracket play later that day. After the first 12 game block, McKendree was sitting at 11th but ended the block on a high note with a 209, 209, 200 and 190 set and ended with 2260 going into the back half of qualifying. They climbed their way forward in the back half, moving up two spots in ninth with a total pinfall of 4463.
In the bracket match, the Bearcats were put up against #8 seed Newman. They had a back and forth first half of the game where both teams won two games each. McKendree was then able to pull away in the last two games to win their first matchup.
They were then faced with the #16 seed Southern Nazarene who just came off beating the #1 seed Webber International. The Crimson Storm carried that momentum in the game beating McKendree 1-4.
This bumped the Bearcats into the consolation bracket with a match up against #12 seed Marian. Unfortunately, this is where their tournament would come to an end after a six-game baker match with the Sabers; they would drop 2-4.
