SAM RAYBURN RESERVOIR, Texas – The Bearcat Anglers wrapped up their time in the Bassmaster Sam Rayburn event this weekend, from February 25th through the 26th.
Graduates Evan Sutton (Highland, Ill.) and Jaxson Freeman (Loda, Ill.) were sitting in fifth after day one with 21-10. They had an even better day two, catching five more for 23-14 and giving them a two-day total of 45-8 to take 4th place in the 250 boat Bassmaster on Rayburn.
Graduate Maxwell Trotter (Decatur, Ill.) and senior Kai Barnett (Columbiana, Ala.) also qualified for the Bassmaster National Championship with a two-day total of 39-11. They were sitting in fortieth place after day one with 16-2, and rebounded with 23-9 on day two to jump up the leaderboard into 14th place.
Right behind them, and also qualifying for the national championship, were sophomores Chase Logue (Oreana, Ill.) and Mason Darling (Highland, Ill.). The sophomore duo had two consistent days, weighing 20-14 and 18-3 for 39-1 and an outstanding 15th-place finish.
Junior Ryan Foster (Columbia, Ill.) and senior Henry Fledderman (Lake St. Louis, Mo.) also had a solid finish, placing 65th with 17-1 and 13-5 for 30-6.
Sophomores Evan McCormick and Zach Widelski (Wheaton, Ill.) had a great day one with 16-4 and a solid finish by placing 93rd with a two-day total of 28 pounds.
Sophomore Dawson Hendrix (Lerna, Ill.) and freshman Landon Ingram were somewhat limited due to boat difficulties. Despite not being able to cover much area, they were able to catch a limit both days for 25-14 and 128th place.
Graduate Jack Stephens (St. Louis, Mo.) and junior Angelo Malek (Lake St. Louis, Mo.) placed 153rd with 24-8.
Senior Connor Hall (Jacksonville, Ill.) and sophomore Carson Belville (Rushville, Ill.) placed 170th with 23-3.
Junior Parker Welch (Spring Hill, Kan.) and sophomore Liam Bonnett (Pittsfield, Ill.) finished 238th with 9-13.
Graduate Kyle Hopping (Lake St. Louis, Mo.) and sophomore Matthew Qualich (Buffalo Grove, Ill.) placed 246th with 3-7.
