FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Midwest Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (MIVA) named junior setter
Nate Flayter as defensive player of the week for the second week in a row.
This marks Flayter's sixth career weekly defensive player of the week honor.
Flayter, the Hales Corners, Wis. native, receives defensive player of the week after a team 2-0 weekend where Flayter picked up 20 digs with six blocks across seven sets. Flayter averaged 2.86 digs/set and 0.86 blocks/set. With his 10th dig in the Bearcats' sweep over Ohio State on Saturday evening, Flayter reached a career milestone of 500 digs. The defensive efforts by Flayter helped hold Northern Kentucky to a .291 hitting percentage in Thursday's match and Ohio State to a .216 hitting percentage. Flayter also tallied 74 assists and four kills in McKendree's undefeated weekend.
