PREVIEW: #13 Men's Volleyball Returns Home to Face Belmont Abbey, #10 Lindenwood

LEBANON, Ill. – McKendree's men's volleyball team will briefly pause MIVA play to face the non-conference Belmont Abbey College Crusaders tomorrow, March 10, at 7:00 PM. The Bearcats will follow with MIVA opponent Lindenwood on Friday, March 13, evening at 6:00 PM, looking to even the score at one match apiece after Lindenwood came out on top in match one on the Lions' home court. Both matches will take place at the Melvin Price Convocation Center. 

McKendree is riding a four-game win streak after ending the weekend unscathed at 2-0, taking down Northern Kentucky in four sets and earning their first program win at the Covelli Center by sweeping Ohio State. Offensively, the Bearcats are led by redshirt senior outside hitter Sam Hoskin with 198 kills, followed by senior opposite Bryce Wetjen with 183 kills. Junior setter Nate Flayter has 642 assists on the season, orchestrating McKendree's offensive success. Defensively, Flayter anchors the back court with 144 digs, surpassing 500 career digs in Saturday's match against Ohio State. Flayter is followed by graduate libero Yadiel Diaz with 119 digs. At the net, senior middle blocker Rolen Lively holds it down with 64 total blocks, followed by Wetjen with 52 blocks. 

Belmont Abbey is nursing a three-game win streak after going 2-0 last week, sweeping both Queens University of Charlotte and George Mason. The Crusaders' offense is led by senior outside hitter Caden Day with 164 kills, followed by junior outside hitter/opposite Zach Puentes with 130 kills. Junior setter Joseph Morris leads the offensive production with 445 assists. Defensively, Belmont Abbey's back court is led by junior libero Alejandro Leon with 120 digs. At the net, senior middle blocker Jibriel Elhaddad leads with 46 total blocks, followed by Morris with 37 blocks. 

Lindenwood is currently on a five-game win streak after ending last weekend 2-0, sweeping both Ohio State and Northern Kentucky. Offensively, junior outside hitter Luke Kraft leads with 173 kills, followed by senior outside hitter Brendan Louthain with 168 kills. The Lions' offensive success runs through senior setter Zach Solomon with 601 assists. Defensively, sophomore libero Lincoln Geist leads with 98 digs, followed by Solomon with 93 digs. At the net, sophomore middle blocker Amir Grant leads with 39 blocks, followed by Louthain and junior middle blocker Owen Walsh each with 30 blocks apiece.
