LEBANON, Ill. – McKendree's men's volleyball team is set to pause MIVA play to compete against the Harvard University Crimson at the Melvin Price Convocation Center in a midweek series, with match one scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday, at 7:00 PM. The Bearcats will follow with a 5:00 PM match on Wednesday to close out the series.
After coming out of the week prior unscathed, McKendree enters this week's competition with a six-game win streak to protect. The Bearcats are led offensively by junior setter
Nate Flayter's 723 assists, with redshirt senior outside hitter
Sam Hoskin having the hot hand with 226 kills, followed by senior opposite
Bryce Wetjen with 225 kills. Defensively, Flayter holds down the back court tallying 159 digs. At the net, senior middle blocker
Rolen Lively locks it down with 66 total blocks.
In the Crimson's last outing, Harvard split, taking down the American International College 3-0 and falling 2-3 to St. Aquinas College. Junior setter Adrian Shevchuk and freshman setter Kai Gan guide the offensive success with 216 and 196 assists, respectively. Sophomore outside hitter Sawyer Nichols has the hot hand for the Crimson with 146 kills. Defensively, Sawyer leads the back court with 74 digs. Junior middle blocker Owen Woolbert shuts it down at the net with 48 blocks, followed by senior middle blocker Brian Thomas with 43 blocks.
