EL SEGUNDO, Calif. — Men's basketball graduate assistant Joe Buhlman was selected to attend the Silver Waves Media Rising Stars Power Lunch as announced on Wednesday, March 25th.
Buhlman is one of 67 coaches from around the country invited to participate at Indiana University Indianapolis. Each coach selected for the event has been distinguished as a rising star in college basketball. The prestigious event will take place on Thursday, April 2nd, as part of the NCAA basketball Final Four weekend.
"I have great respect for all of the coaches on this list and am looking forward to attending such a high-level event," said Buhlman. "I am grateful to be recognized and selected for this opportunity by both Ryan [Silver] & Silver Waves Media."
The McKendree program made incredible strides this season, as the team saw their best win total overall (22) and in conference play (14) in their NCAA Division II-era since 2012-13. They also bolstered the Great Lakes Valley Conference's (GLVC) Freshman of the Year in guard Andrew Moore (Montgomery County, Mo.), as well as two selections on the GLVC First Team squad. The team made it to the semifinals of the conference tournament after tying for third in the final GLVC standings.
"I am excited to see Joe recognized," said Head Coach George Suggs. "He is an enthusiastic, young coach who will have a bright future in this sport. He has been a great piece of this program, and I look forward to all the success ahead of him."
