LaFrance Takes GLVC Offensive Player of the Week

The Sophomore Put Up 13 Points Consisting of Eight Goals and Five Assists in Two Wins Last Week

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) announced its women's lacrosse Players of the Week recognitions on Monday, March 9th, with McKendree sophomore attacker Ariyah LaFrance (Akwesasne, N.Y.) obtaining the offensive selection.

In the two games played last week, LaFrance totaled 13 points, consisting of eight goals and five assists on 72.7% shooting overall and 72.7% on the goal, to go with three ground balls, a draw control, and two caused turnovers.

In Wednesday's win against the University of Findlay amidst lighting delays, The New Yorker finished with six points of three goals and three assists on 60.0% shooting overall and 100% on the goal, plus a ground ball, a caused turnover, and a draw control…In game two win at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs, LaFrance finished with seven points of five goals and two assists on 83.3% shooting overall and 100% on the goal, plus two ground balls and a caused turnover

The sophomore is top-10 in the GLVC in assists per game (9th – 1.6), points per game (8th – 4.8). She leads the McKendree team in goals (16), points (24), overall shots (26), and shots on goal (23).

This marks the second consecutive conference weekly honor for the program, as junior defender Rylee Fox (Woodridge, Ill.) collected the GLVC Defensive Player of the Week honor last Monday. LaFrance is the fourth different Bearcat athlete to receive the offensive accolade since joining the league in 2020, and the seventh time the club has been given this specific recognition.

"Ariyah has been a key piece to our massive offensive output to start the season, said Head Coach Natalie Simpson. "Her toughness in getting to wherever she wants on the field is unmatched, as I know she will keep getting better as the season goes on."
