LEBANON, Ill. – McKendree women's volleyball (0-4, 0-0 GLVC), faced Montevallo (3-1, 0-0 GSC) and Ouachita Baptist (1-3, 0-0 GAC) on the final day of the McKendree Invitational Saturday.
Game One | Montevallo 3, McKendree 0
The Bearcats battled in a closely fought duel with the Falcons narrowly being defeated in each of the three sets (27-25, 27-25, 25-23). As a team McKendree had the best of Montevallo behind the service line with 13 aces and in the digs category with 52. Individually, the team was led in kills by sophomore Madelyn Clarke with 12, behind her was junior Avery Guisinger with seven and graduate Mackenzie Yoakum with five. Sophomore Peyton Uptgraft led in assists with 20 with junior Madison Wojdyla behind her with 14. On the defensive side, freshman Reece Distler and junior Paige Parant each notched double digit digs with 11 and 10 respectively.
Game Two | Ouachita Baptist 3, McKendree 0
The second game of the day was managed by the Tigers, sweeping the Bearcats to win their only game of the McKendree Invitational. However, Uptgraft had double digit assists, 12, and digs, 11. The attack was spread around with five different Bearcats reaching three kills or more.
McKendree will be on the road competing at the Kentucky Wesleyan Invitational September 4th and 5th in Owensboro, Kentucky. There they will face Arkansas Fort-Smith, Kentucky Wesleyan and Davis & Elkins College. The games will be Friday at 3:00 p.m. and Saturday at 11:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. at the Woodward Health and Recreation Center.
