Women's Soccer Tallies Road Shutout; Career First for Day

Bearcats get back on track in league play

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Junior goalkeeper Alyse Day had herself a day on Wednesday evening with McKendree University women's soccer collecting a 2-0 victory over the Lincoln Blue Tigers while Day got her first career start and shutout during full-time in net. The Bearcats jumped back in the win column in the second game of their Great Lakes Valley Conference slate, topping Lincoln for the third consecutive season, pushing the goal differential to 24-1 over LU. McKendree heads back out on the road for another conference contest this weekend with a battle in Fayette, Iowa against Peacocks of Upper Iowa at 12:00PM at Harms-Eischeid Stadium.

The Bearcats headed out after opening their conference season last weekend for a battle against the Blue Tigers, which featured high scoring in the past match ups. McKendree and Lincoln were locked into a grappling match early on with the visiting Bearcats pushing through mid-way in the first leg of the game. The first goal for McKendree came from a beautiful cross ball sent in the air by sophomore forward Lyla Karolczak, connecting with the head of junior forward Maddie Mauch for the 1-0 advantage. McKendree led 1-0 for only a minute when senior forward Aubrey Andrews found a lane to break through and fire an insurance score to make the game a 2-0 lead for the Bearcats. The goal by Mauch marked her sixth score and fourth game-winner of the 2026 campaign. Andrews' goal was her first of the season.

McKendree's latter 45 saw the Bearcats move into a defensive wall, holding back a forward-moving Blue Tigers squad. The Bearcats held strong and got the shutout victory with Day grabbing four saves. McKendree had a 15-10 shot advantage while earning seven corners in the contest.
