LEBANON, Il. -- The McKendree women's volleyball team opens Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) play Friday, Sept. 18 at 6 p.m. against Drury University and Saturday, Sept. 19 at 3:00 p.m. against Southwest Baptist University in the Melvin Price Convention Center.  

The Bearcats have been prepping during preseason play, opening with a home tournament and traveling to Kentucky Wesleyan University and Missouri Western State University the following weekends, with pin hitters Madison Clarke and Brooke Heimburg earning tournament team honors with their offensive performances. After a 2-8 record, the Bearcats are looking to start conference strong and defend their home court.  

Despite earning an eighth-place position after the GLVC preseason poll, Drury University comes off a strong 9-2 record, earning a win against No. 4 Washburn University in their last contest. Drury is currently sitting second in the GLVC standings after preseason play, with middle blocker Skylar Hilton leading the Panthers with 100 kills, and outside hitter Abby Renshaw following closely behind with 98 kills. Drury's 5-1 setter Jacy Bray leads the team in digs, while middle blocker Gracie Kimery earned GLVC Defensive Player of the Week honors this past week.  

Southwest Baptist earned the 12th position, just under McKendree, in the GLVC preseason polls. With a 8-3 record, the Bearcats are fourth in the standings with offensive leader Gabriella Dupree at 140 kills, and 129 digs.  

Admission for the games this weekend will be $10 for general admission, $5 for 65 and older, and $25 for a weekend pass. Children 12 and under, as well as students have free admission. All games will be streamed on the GLVC Sports Network.
