(CHESTERFIELD, Mo., Oct. 1)- The McKendree men's soccer team improved to 1-0-1 in the American Midwest Conference on Friday night with a 3-0 win over Missouri Baptist University.

The Bearcats, 6-2-2 overall, will host Columbia College on Wednesday, October 6th at 7 p.m. at Leemon Field.

McKendree took a 1-0 lead in the first half on a goal from freshman midfielder/forward Kavel Smith (Kingston, Jamaica) on an assist from freshman forward Dan Bogard (Portsmouth, England, Porchester Community). Bogard gave the Bearcats a 2-0 lead in the second half with a goal off an assist by junior midfielder Tom Ward (Frodhsam, England). Ward then gave McKendree a 3-0 lead on an unassisted goal late in the second half.

Junior goalkeeper Joe Sagar (Oldham, England, Hulme) played 63 minutes in goal and had three saves, while sophomore Tim Day (Edwardsville, Ill., Edwardsville) played 27 minutes and had one assist. The duo earned the team shutout in the win.
