(ELGIN, Ill., Aug. 28)- The No. 21 McKendree University men's soccer team struck first on Saturday, but lost in double overtime to Judson University, who received votes in the NAIA preseason poll, 2-1 in double overtime.

The Bearcats, now 1-1 overall, will host Central Methodist University on August 31 at 8 p.m. The game will be McKendree's 2010 home opener.

After a scoreless first half, freshman forward Blessing Tupiri (Harare, Zimbabwe, Falcon College) took a pass from freshman midfielder Perry Hughes (Liverpool, England, St. Francis Xavier) and scored on a breakaway in the 58th minute to give the Bearcats a 1-0 lead. The Eagles tied the game in the 75th minute on a free kick by Rafa Heck and forced overtime.

Neither team scored in the first overtime period to force the second overtime and the Eagles won the game on a penalty kick by Gustavo Scorzelli in the 109th minute.
