(PARKVILLE, Mo., Sept. 18)- The American Midwest Conference opener for both McKendree University and Park University was stopped before the end of regulation on Saturday due to strong thunderstorms in the Kansas City area. The game ended in the 72nd minute in a 1-1 tie.
McKendree, now 3-2-2 overall (0-0-1 AMC), will host University of St. Francis (Ill.) on Monday, September 18 at 6 p.m.
The Pirates struck in the 19th minute on a goal by Ramone Palmer to take a 1-0 lead. The Bearcats tied the game in the 31st minute on an unassisted goal by freshman midfielder
Perry Hughes (Liverpool, England, St. Francis Xavier) and headed into halftime with the game even at 1-1.
The Bearcats outshot the Pirates 6-1 in the second half, but couldn't find the back of the net to take the lead. Mother nature took over in the 72nd minute and the game was ended due to strong thunderstorms.

Joe Sagar (Oldham, England, Hulme) played the entire length of the contest in goal and had four saves in the tie.
