Tom Ward (Frodhsam, England/) tallied his 34th career assist in a 5-1 win on Tuesday afternoon at Williams Baptist College to make him the all-time leader career assists in McKendree men's soccer history.
The Bearcats improved to 13-0 and will continue their trek for an undefeated season on Saturday, October 15th against Indiana Institute of Technology at 12 p.m.
Ward's assist broke Matt Craig's previous school record of 33 set from 1994-1997. Ward is also now ranked third all-time at McKendree with 82 career points, trailing Joe McClary's second place total of 86 set from 2000-2004, and Francsco Mosca's top total of 158 set from 1999-2002.
McKendree found itself trailing 18 minutes into the game, before freshman forward Anthony Grant scored off Ward's historic assist in the 23rd minute. The Bearcats took 2-1 lead in the 40th minute on an unassisted goal by sophomore forward
Kavel Smith (Kingston, Jamaica/St. George’s College), before Smith picked up an assist on a goal by freshman forward
C.J. Cerna (Collinsville, Ill./Collinsville) in the 43rd minute to take a 3-1 lead into the half.
Grant scored his second goal of the game in the 55th minute on Smith's second assist of the game to place McKendree in the lead 4-1. Cerna sealed the win in the 79th minute with his second goal of the day on an assist by sophomore midfielder/forward

Joe Sagar (Oldham, England/Hulme) played all 90 minutes in goal for the Bearcats and improved to 13-0 overall on the season.
