(HANNIBAL, Mo., Feb. 5)- The McKendree University women's basketball team had its second consecutive game go wire-to-wire, but came away with a win on Saturday at Hannibal-LaGrange University, 60-58.
The Bearcats improved to 9-14 overall and 5-5 in the American Midwest Conference and will travel to Columbia, Mo., on Thursday, February 10th to face No. 17 Columbia College at 5:30 p.m.
Sophomore forward
Courtney Harris (St. Louis, Mo., St. Joseph Academy) led all players with 16 points and sophomore guard
Leann Voss (Breese, Ill., Breese Central) had 13 points in the victory.
McKendree started slowly, but overcame an early deficit to take an eight point lead midway through the first half. The Trojans battled back and got within two at the break, 30-28. Both teams played even in the second half and two free throws in the final minute of the game by senior guard
Kasie Frazier (Lebanon, Ill., Lebanon) proved to be the difference in the win.
Angie Schwagmeyer led the Trojans with 14 points, while Natasha Bonner and Kayla Hruby scored 12 and 11 points, respectively. Hruby came close to recording the triple-double with 10 rebounds and eight assists.
