LUEHMANN, LEDBETTER AND CRANE EACH SCORE TWO GOALS IN BEARCATS 9-0 WIN OVER BENEDICTINE-SPRINGFIELD

(SPRINGFIELD, Ill., September 26)- The McKendree University women's soccer led Benedictine University-Springfield 2-0 at halftime on Monday, only to score seven second half goals to earn a 9-0 win over the Bulldogs.

The Bearcats improved to 4-6 overall and will travel to St. Louis, Mo., on Friday to face Missouri Baptist University at 4 p.m.

Freshmen Natalie Crane (Granite City, Ill., Granite City) and Lindsey Ledbetter (Smithton, Ill., Freeburg) each scored a goal in the first half to give McKendree a slight 2-0 edge at the break, only to break the game wide open in the second half with seven goals.

Senior midfielder Sulyn Keomanivane (Granite City, Ill., Granite City) scored in the 47th minute to give the Bearcats a 3-0 lead. The goal by Keomanivane, the 46th of her career, placed her in a tie for second place with Sarah Ryan (2006-09) all-time at McKendree in goals scored. She also moved into sole possession of second place all-time in points scored with 113, only four points behind Ryan's all-time mark of 117 for the Bearcats.

Junior forward Carlee Luehmann (Granite City, Ill., Granite City) scored two goals in the second half, her second and third of the season, while Crane and Ledbetter also scored their second goals of the contest in the second half. Senior forward Alex Hartwick (Belleville, Ill., Granite City) scored her second goal of the season in the 57th minute of the contest, and an own goal by the Bulldogs gave McKendree the final nine goal tally.

Senior midfielder Chrissy Ghirardi (O'Fallon, Mo., Ft. Zumwalt South), junior midfielder Danni Warren (Stockport, England, Wilmslow), and senior forward Erin Kilian (St. Louis, Mo., Kennedy) each had assists in the win.

Freshman goalkeeper Taylor Zerbe (St. Louis, Mo., Trinity Catholic) improved to 3-6 overall and three saves in the shutout.
