(LEBANON, Ill., Jan. 21)—The McKendree University track and field teams opened their 2012 indoor seasons Saturday at the Eastern Illinois University Mega-Meet in Charleston, Ill.
The Bearcats had four women and two men who registered top-eight finishes in the day-long event. Two members of the McKendree women's squad earned victories at Eastern Illinois. Senior
Nadia Moore (Cahokia, IL/Cahokia) (Cahokia, Ill./Cahokia) won the high jump by clearing a height of five feet, one inch. Junior Kim Spencer (Pinckneyville, Ill./Pinckneyville) bested all competitors in the 60-meter dash with a winning effort of 7.92 seconds.
Sophomore
LaTia Jefferson (Belleville, IL/Belleville East) (Belleville, Ill./Belleville East) grabbed second place in the triple jump at 35 feet, 5 ¾ inches. Freshman Chantell Stennis (Bolingbrook, Ill./Bolingbrook) took fourth place in the 60-meter dash in a time of 8.34 seconds.
In men's competition, senior
Travis Lavin (Centralia, IL/Centralia) (Centralia, Ill./Centralia) turned in a lifetime best in the mile run. Lavin covered the distance in a time of 4:22.66. Sophomore Jordan Henderson (St. Louis, Mo./Cardinal Ritter) finished seventh in the 60-meter dash, posting a final time of 7.07 seconds.
The McKendree indoor teams will return to action Feb. 4 at the Dr. Jim Green Invitational, which is being hosted by Illinois College in Jacksonville, Ill.
