POOR SECOND HALF DOOMS BEARCATS, FALL AT HANNIBAL-LaGRANGE 60-49

Box Score (HANNIBAL, Mo., January 24)- The McKendree University women's basketball team dropped a 60-49 decision on the road at Hannibal-LaGrange University on Tuesday night.

The Bearcats fell to 6-15 overall and will host Missouri Baptist University at 7 p.m., on January 31st.

Redshirt senior Ashley Agee (Moberly, Mo., Moberly) led Mckendree with 11 points, while sophomore guard Brittany Willis (St. Louis, Mo., Parkway South) and freshman guard Caty Ponce (Edwardsville, Ill., Edwardsville) each had 10 points in the loss.

The Trojans held a 7-4 lead early before junior guard Leann Voss (Breese, Ill., Breese Central) drained a three-pointer to tie the game 7-7 with 14:23 left in the half. Redshirt junior forward Emily Woodland (Eureka, Mo., Eureka) hit a jumper and Willis followed with jumper of her own to give McKendree a four-point lead before Voss capped off a 7-0 run with another three to put the Bearcats in the lead 14-7 with just under 12 minutes left in the half. After a three-pointer by HLG's Trenee Thornton cut the lead to four, the Bearcats responded with another 7-0 run that gave McKendree its largest lead of the game, 21-10, with eight minutes left in the first half. The Trojans bounced back with an 11-0 run to tie the game 21-21 with four minutes left in the half and both teams traded buckets down the stretch to head into the half tied 27-27.

Hannibal-LaGrange jumped out to a 34-28 lead at the start of the second half, but the Bearcats tied the game 34-34 with 13:46 left in the second half after two consecutive three-pointer's by Agee. After tying the game, the Bearcats hit a shooting slump and went 6-of-23 from the field in the remainder of the contest. The Trojans took advantage and quickly jumped out to a double-digit lead to deal McKendree the 60-49 loss.

Ashley Wilson led all players with 22 points and 11 rebounds for Hannibal-LaGrange, while Trenee Thornton and Ashleigh Spencer contributed 12 and 11 points, respectively.
